2020 Scholarship Recipients

Inter Tribal Sports launched its inaugural scholarship program in 2013, as a part of ITS commitment to encouraging the pursuit of higher education. Native American youth from the ITS service area in southern California, that were graduating high school seniors or current college students attending a university, junior college, or trade school were eligible to apply. A total of $1,000 had been awarded to one inspiring young students. The 2020 class of scholarship recipients included:

  Priscilla Ortiz is a current Junior at Haskell Indian Nations University. She is from the Rincon Band of LuiseƱo Indians and is studying for a Bachelors of Arts in Business and Associate in Arts in Social Work.

2019 Scholarship Recipients

Native American youth from the ITS service area in southern California, that were graduating high school seniors or current college students attending a university, junior college, or trade school were eligible to apply. A total of $4,000 had been awarded to six inspiring young students. The 2019 class of scholarship recipients included:



 Madeline Majel is a graduating high school senior from The Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians. She was accepted to Oregon State University - Cascades and will be studying human development and family science. 
  Lorraine Mazzetti is a graduating high school senior from The Rincon Band of Lusieno Indians. She was accepted to University of California, Los Angeles and will be pursuing politicial science and Native American studies. 
  Annie Villalobos is a graduating high school senior from The San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians. She was accepted to George Mason University and will be studying Psychology. Annie will also be playing division 1 softball for the university.

 Jesse Johnson is a current freshman at University of California, Los Angeles. He is from The San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians and is studying pre-microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics.
  April Silva is a current student at California State University San Marcos. She is from The San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians and is studying liberal studies. Once she completes her bachelors degree she will go through a teaching credential program in hopes of becoming a teacher one day. 

 Vanessa Martinez is from The San Pasual Band of Mission Indians and will be attending San Diego State University in pursuit of an American Indian Studies degree.
